another one of those 6.0 oil leaks

Ok I have an oil leak on the rear drivers side of the engine. There is oil marks all over the left side all the way back to the transfercase skidplates so its a really bad leak. In the past 2 weeks a huge puddle formed undernieth the truck. It looks like its coming from the last cylinder in the exhaust manifold. I can tell its not coming from the top of the engine just from the side I'm hoping its not a head gasket but I think it might be. any help would be appreciated.

It would help to know the year model of your truck and if it's an 03/04 the production date off the door tag. It could be glow plug harness, ICP sensor (most common) or simply a valve cover gasket. I don't think headgaskets usually leak oil like that, at least I've never seen one, but anything is possible.

My bedplate had to be done on my truck at 30,000 miles. But the dealer was great and took care of it all. Except for the crappy ford focus lender we got while they fixed it.. LOL

ok it is an 03 f350. The oil looks like its coming out of the manifold and not from the top of the engine. Im really thinking its the head gasket tho. Another problem I noticed today is that the oil smells like diesel fuel maybe they are mixing somewere and maybe this might help identify the problem. But thanks alot for the input. O and by the way what is a bed plate I have never heard of it thanks again

The 6.0 block has two sections, the upper section, which is the main meat of the block and a lower section (the bedplate) that acts as the bottom end of the engine. this is a one piece section that has the main caps integrated into it for strength. there is a gasket between these two sections of block and it is called the bedplate gasket. I kind of doubt that is the source of your leak based on what you describe, but could be wrong.
