4" exhaust problems

I have an 03 F250 6.0L. After replacing the stock exhaust with a 4" turbo back exhaust the check engine light came on while towing my 5th wheel also suffered power loss. I was able to reset the light when not towing, runs great. Took it in for recall # 06E17, since then I can't reset the check engine light, still have loss of power and exhaust does not sound the same. Dealer said the 4" exhaust was the problem code P0401. Anyone know what's going on?

Excuse me???????????????????????

All diesel engines are compression ignition.

I'm sure you mis spoke there. The backpressure is the issue. Some believe (and the dealers are those "some") that backpressure in the exhaust is needed on the 6.0 for some reason.
Others say this isn't true.

I am sorry I meant back pressure, from the exaust. For some reason I typed compression. It early and my brain hasn't fully warmed up yet.

I intstalled a 4' downpipe to a 5' and was told to leave my cat on for someback pressure and that was from several differnet mechanics and the shop that sold me my exhaust. The 6.0 is supposed to have a little backpressure to work right. I left mine on and haven't had a problem.

Might add back on a muffler like a magnaflow and see if that provided enough backpressure.
