Dead pedal only after warm engine and under hard acceleration
Hey everyone, Read and searched, but I still cannot find a solid solution or an idea to what my problem is.
I have a 2003 6.0L bone stock its a 6 speed. Picked the truck up last week. So far it has been pretty good.. Head gaskets are good, EGR system seems to be working fine. It has started in the -55 Celcius weather we have had here and I always let it warm for 20 minutes. The problem I noticed was during the warmer weather (-10C) once the truck has reached operating temperature, If I would push on the accelerator in fourth or fifth gear on any slight grade doing about 80 km/h the truck would just buck out and die on me. I would shift down to 3rd, then 2nd and it will eventually stall. I would turn off the truck and then after 2 minutes it will start back up and run fine. My Degas bottle is leaking coolant slightly and it is not overfilled (at min mark cold). I think i have narrowed it down to either my EGR valve will get stuck open, when the truck dies out I hear almost a fluttering noise. OR my ICP sensor. I haven't been able to take my EGR valve out to clean it... the ****sucker is in there good. If anyone has any ideas to help me out I would appreciate it. I am planning to do a EGR delete and eventually more work when money comes available. |

Re: Dead pedal only after warm engine and under hard acceleration
To get the egr valve out you can put wire through the holes and make a loop, grab something and put through the wire and pry up. You need a monitor to do some diagnostics. You could pick up a scanguage II from autozone.
Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get. |

Ill try getting that bastard out tomorrow.. check to see if there is any coolant.

I'm at a loss here... Can't get that EGR out and it's now dying even when not warmed up. Severe dead pedal. Only seems to be running good when it is cold.
It is idling rough now as well. |

No power at all. Tried unplugging EGR sensor when trucks off. Then started.. Same symptoms

Also it is very hard to start when it does die maybe it is a fuel problem?

Re: Dead pedal only after warm engine and under hard acceleration
You need a monitor.....Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD.
Read the stickies for no start, hard start. Sent from my phone that somebody didn't help me get. |

Ya I know a monitor real soon. My ICP was relaxed in October. Has same symptoms. Is there a way to " easily" unplug it to check??

Pulled code P2122 throttle/pedal position sensor/switch D circuit low input

Check the connection and wires. It is possible one channel is dead and another is intermittent. That would give you the symptoms you have.
AP (Accelerator Pedal Position) ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS 104 • The AP (Accelerator Pedal) is a three track pedal. The AP incorporates three potentiometers. Through out the movement of the AP the resistance values of the three potentiometers must agree. During the movement of the AP if one of the three potentiometer readings do not agree, the check engine light will illuminate and the vehicle will continue to perform as normal. If two signals from the AP are lost the PCM will allow the engine to idle only and illuminate the check engine light. • The three-track pedal is a safety feature. The three track pedal takes the place of the Idle Validation Switch allowing for limited system failure and still maintaining performance. Of course, you could still have a "relaxed" ICP problem, such as a plug problem since it was "replaced". |
