I have been having a problem with my Ex missing our bucking at around 60 mph. doesn't loose power, just bucks a little like when you're on rough pavement. Primarily when cold. Doesn't do it when its warmed up.
I've read threads about the IPR valve and the ICP sensor, but i don't really know what those are. Injector problem? Read some threads where people use an oil treatment (rev-x or Archoil), don't know if that will help. would appreciate any advice |

Spool valves sticking in the injectors.

Ok, what should I do about it?

You can try Archoil 9100 oil aditive and see if it helps. If not your going to need new injectors or have yours rebuilt.

Hey man, I have some Archoil 9100 oil treatment. Full size 16oz. Just dump the whole thing in with a fresh oil change with Rotella T6 Synthetic. If that makes the truck run smooth again, you'll know it's Stiction. How long you can go running the treatment is indefinite... I think it's still open for debate. Some say its a fix. Generally most on here believe its just a band aid. I think it's a really heavy duty, super absorbent- stays on for a while or until you can afford stitches (new injectors) type of band aid.
Ps I have some for sale. I'll sell it for $40. I'll pay shipping. Call/text 205-617-2145 |

Sounds like an injector.I would take it to a Ford dealer and tell them its running rough when it's cold, and request they perform a Power Balance Test with the IDS during a cold start road test.It will identify which cylinder(injector) is causing the problem.I work at a Ford dealer and that's how we isolate the problem injector.Shops without this capability will recommend replacing all injectors.

Thanks, what is the IDS (sorry dumb question in know)
If i need to relace an injector, how big of a job is that? |

Injectors aren't that hard to replace. All you have to do is pull off valve covers and oil rails. If you find a bad one you could get a new one ~$200 roughly or if you can afford some downtime you could send all 8 to Jesse Warren. He will go through and rework your all injectors and offer a 6 month warranty. ~$600 for all 8. He can either rework your stock ones or upgrade them to 155s or 175s.

The IDS is the laptop based scantool used at Ford dealerships. If you need an injector replaced I recommend Ford Motorcraft injectors,I've seen nothing but problems arise from rebuilding injectors.I have 3 brand new Ford Motorcraft injectors still in the box if you are interested in buying them. They list for well over $200 a piece, but I will sell them for $125 each.
