Looking for some guidance buying my 1st 6.0

Hey guys I am going to be looking at and hopefully buying my first diesel truck. All my friends growing up had 7.3s I have found a 6.0 and it's bulletproofed so I know I am hopefully ahead of the game with that. Carfax is clean. Anything I should looks for when I check this truck out since I don't know much about the 6.0. I have been reading all kinds of stuff that need to be done . But I mean just random weird thing if i see This I should pass and walk away.

Lifted 6" w/ 35s
Mbrp dual 4" exhaust turbo back
Intake
Bully dog gt tuner
All maintenance done by ford ( has records to show)

I would do a search on bully dog tuners. Been told they mess up the trans. 6.0's are never bulletproof. What has been done to it? If studed what gaskets were used? Who did the work? Was the hpop,injectors, replaced? I love my 6.0 but its always some thing with these trucks. Good luck

Ford did the work( guys friend works there) arp head studs and gasket.

I am not sure what the hpop is? There alot of abbreviations on here I don't understand yet lol

And injectors were not replaced

High pressure oil pump was not replaced yet, blue spring was not upgraded yet.


Blue spring will be my first thing to tackle

I would assume that the work being done at a Ford dealership, that would mean they used OEM headgaskets... Hard to assume though since they did not use OEM headbolts, but rather ARP studs. This willbe one of the most important things to find out... OEM or black onyx. If they used black onyx, then plan to do the headgasket job all over again... guaranteed.

Also, I would want to know why the HG's were replaced... Preventative measure... or failure? The HG's fail because of overboost (Too much programmer for the truck) or because the EGR cooler has failed and is introducing water into the cylinders creating extreme pressures on the TTY headbolts. ALl that being said, has the EGR been deleted or an EGR cooler been replaced? Also, has the oil cooler been replaced? Lots of things to think about. I am currently wrking a fuel injector control module (FICM) issue. Its not fun. Do LOTS of research on here and learn the symptoms, and fix them quick.

As previously stated, no 6.0 is truly ever bullet proof.... no diesel is. Also keep something in mind... Big truck=big parts=big money...

He bought the bulky dog gt tunner and overboosted ( on extreme) . The gasket is OEM , the studs are arp and the egr is gone! not sure about the oil cooler.
