'04 F250 FX4 Oil Leak

My '04 F250 FX4 with the 6.0 has been having an engine oil leak that seems to be coming from the rear of the engine. The truck has only 19,000 miles and the leak was noticed last November. I have brought in to the dealer 2 times for this problem and each time I'm told that it's fixed. After a few emails to the owner and service manager of the dealership I was assured that they would correct the problem but no one there has made any attempt to get the truck in for repair. I want to escalate the problem to Ford
motor Company and would like input from someone that had experience with this. I don't know of any telephone number or email address that Ford makes available for anyone having problems with service issues at dealerships. Can anyone assist please. Thanks.......

Oil Leak

I'm not Chack7 but I have a minor leak at the BH on my (July 2005 built) 2006 PSD. It is a hanging drop on the BH that drops ever once in awhile. I can wipe it off and it may be a week before it reforms. Seems to be comming from the seem in the BH. Appears very minor. No other oil found. I have been all over the engine and it is dry. Took to shop today and Tech said he could find no leak and that it was probably assembly grease. When I first noticed it at about 600 miles it looked too dark to be fresh oil but then again, it was oily??? (Another question-with a bed plate leak that is not real bad, will it get worse with time?) No other oil noticed. Truck runs fine. Only other minor things is the plastic cover over the front bumper and under the grill appears to be warped. It is wavey looking.

In your owners manual there is an 800 number you can call for customer service issues. I don't know what it is off hand but have called it and gotten a response back from a district manager .

there is a special service message for early built 06 vehicles. They dumped assembly lube out of the turbos and didnt clean it up. The oil is dark and looks just like engine oil, but it isnt, thats why the tech couldnt find the leak. Pressure wash below the trubo like crazy and you should get most of it off of up there......

Im assuming this is another truck, but as far as a bed plate leak, its not a common leak, but is commonly misdiaged when its really a leaking cam or crank sensor right up front, but if the bed plate is leaking i would do nothing about it if it was just a minor leak. The bed plate is actually your main bearing caps and i know with some of the techs that are out there, i woulndnt want just anone taking it off....just my opinion. I have not seen a bed plate leak badly yet, all have just been a minor seep........

oil leak

Thanks for the advice folks. I really appreciate all the great info and advice. I have learned so much here at this site. If I knew what I know now I would have probably bought another make (Then I could gripe about that ). Anyway, Ford has the best looking truck but it gets old reading about all the problems there seems to be with the 6.0 . The tech mentioned above is very good and I have known him for years. I will give it another few miles and see if it dries up. By the way, they also did the reflash that was out and I can't tell much difference other than it seems to idle a little higher and has less turbo lag and a little more get up and go-may just be in my mind though . Thanks all and God Bless.

My experience is

Every 6.0 I have ever worked on is just like the 7.3. They leak. Every 6.0 I have ever had on my lift has oil on the bell housing. Even with 5 miles on it. Had one in the other day ('03 with 215,000 miles) same amount of oil as a new one. But Mark is right on the assembly lube.

'04 F250 FX4 Oil Leak

Appreciate all the replies regarding the 6.0 oil leak. Seems that this engine is prone to oil leaks, but sure upsets me when you pay $40K+ for a truck and you have to deal with oil leak problems. Since the truck has been brought in for repairs and the problem remains, I have sent numerous emails to the All Star Ford dealership owner and service manager in Denham Springs Louisiana expressing my dissatisfaction with their service. Their latest reply was that the service manager has been in meetings for the past 2 weeks and couldn't get back with me. I was able to get a Customer Service number for Ford Motor Company (1-800-392-3673) and also on the internet at: www.fordvehicles.com/help/contact/. I will be contacting them and hope to get better response to my problem than offered by the local dealership.

Oil Leak

Good service seems hard to find. When you buy one they walk you through the service department and introduce you (Probably as new sucker ) but after you buy, they could care less . It took me 8 hours to get the oil/filter changed and two minor warranty issues looked at (and not fixed) . I guess my next truck will be a Duramax since I've already seen that Dodge service (And probably Chevy) service is just as bad.
