The glow plugs themselves are fairly easy just unscrew them with a deep socket 6-point
Getting the wireing off without breaking the clips is the challenge. 50/50 you will break one,Ford recomends just changeing the harness. There is a method used where you use a lenth of 18 ga. wire wrapped in the space between the clip and the plug and pulling with smooth steady pressure and a rocking motion. I have an old door panel clip remover that works pretty well. Again use steady pressure and a rocking motion. Good luck. |

get the harness connector to rotate in the rocker box hole first. If the o-ring is stuck this will free it up. If you can't get it to move then stop and get a harness before you go any further

Just did the number 6 plug on my 05 today. The hardest part was the air filter. The job took less then hour and a beer with very little issue. Make sure that you have something ready to help remove the harness. I made a tool and that took the most time just trying to get it to fit.

I had to do the passenger side on mine; I found the hardest part to be removing hte inner wheel well.
I purchased a new harness along with the glow plugs ... didn't even bother with trying to "not break the clips" ont he original. |
