Long story short.... Friends 04 6.0 is shot and the dealer pulled the motor out and pulled it apart and wouldnt put it back together. He bought a used motor with about everything, harnesses up pipes turbo ficm, pretty good deal....

I ve done it the other way put a 04 into a 06 the front cover is diffrent on the 04 than the 06 for the bottom rad hose put it will work with 06 hose and 04 power steering pump, did have to change most of the sensors on the 04 to 06 sensors and used the 06 wiring so you will have to change the sensors on your 06 back to the 04 and use the 04 harness near as I remember that was all that was diffrent. It was easy took me about 16 hrs total with the cab on I did take the cab bolts out to set motor in place and lifted the front of the cab 3 inches just for clearence cause was using a hiab picker truck, but have done a couple now with out doing that again.Ive only done the 05-06 years also. The big trick with the cab on is finding the right balance to hang the motor and it can be stabbed to the tranny faiarly easy.I have done a couple motor swaps now and by myself so if you have a extra hand it will be easy.Just remember to check all the sensors cause some are a b^&*h to get at once motor is inside the truck. Not much to offer there but thats my experiance hope it helped
