Been there a couple times now bud and 13k is cheap.I am way up in the NWT the first one was quoted at 17k bought a used motor for 250 bucks slapped it in of course did the usual good stuff the truck is turning close to 400thou km no issues the other one they quoted me 23k replaced the motor for less than a thousand that truck has made over 200 thou km.I now buy them for under 3000.00 do the usual maintance and they run great have 5 back-up motors in the yard.I hate to say it but when they break down people just dont wanna do the work to them and spend the money to fix them and I am loving it.My 2 duallies are going for 130 - 150 a hr and run just as good as the new 70k trucks. So fix it your self and look here often thats were I got all my info.
P.S. The mileage sucks but they making me $$

Performance Machine & MFG. 2003-2007 Ford PowerStroke Diesel 6.0L Long Block Engine Assembly

anyone ever deal with these guys?
I have the adapter for the compression test on the way will be here friday. Going to test it further myself before I call it quits on the engine. I don't see it being scrapped.

Tearing down. really like the redesign on the turbo mounting over the 04's.. that rear bolt is a dream compared to older ones.

What is the deal with the special engine lifting tools i keep reading about? Whats wrong with the hook points already on the engine?

Definitely easier going with everything out of the way lol.

Also figured you guys would get a kick out of the redneck parts washer.

Been hot, looks like it's rounded the edges on the bowl.

Likely injector stuck open and burned that cylinder up, or filled it with fuel and hydraulically locked it, which would explain the pushrods by the piston/fluid combo forcing the valves shut.

I'd likely put a long block in it, if it was my truck. By the time you get a short block and gaskets and junk and have the heads checked, you're probably tickling the long block cost anyhow. And then on the chance one or both of the heads is no good, you'd be up that additional cost.

Or if you wanted to spend some ching, buy a drop in and have all new.

Alternatively, you could put a used motor in it. I did one a couple years ago for a customer, bought with about 67k miles on it, for $4000 delivered to Canada from the United States, so I imagine you'd be cheaper that way as well.

Benefits to a complete is all new injectors, turbo, HPOP, everything.

Problem with used is you don't know the history on what you're getting.

How did Ford come up with 13k for a long block with no warranty?!

Over the counter short/long blocks are warrantied for 2 years/unlimited mileage.

Warranty info:
