You are also going to have to flush the heck out of the coolant system and change your coolant hoses because the hoses will begin to deteriorate internally.
Dawn dishwashing detergent is best at cutting oil but sudses heavy and will be necessary to flush a lot of clean water to get it all out. Most people use dishwasher detergent or simple green. Do your flushing with regular tap water and save money, it is only necessary for distilled water on the final flush and on the final fill. |

Simple Green HD. It's purple. Home Depot has it.
Unfortunately you may end up changing your oil cooler twice. You need to change it now, before you start the engine again; then you will have to do all the flushes with Simple Green HD, then Restore, then Restore Plus or VC-9. And yes, use tap water for all this until the last series flushing out the last chemical, use distilled for that and then use Cat EC-1 rated ELC concentrate and distilled to top off. All those chemical flushes could loosen up enough gunk to clog your new oil cooler again. Can't be helped. Last edited by Idahoser; 09-27-2012 at 07:27 AM. |

I agree. Also flush both systems, oil and coolant.
