no kidding about it, my mouth is watering now that some of the sick-0's are getting out of warranty, bout time i quit eating my ....., it was one of fords biggest mess ups, nothing like testing the product on the customer, instead of beforehand, like it should be.

So did Ford just throw the 6.0 together and think it would be a bada$$ like the 7.3 and do very little testing?

it was actually internationals fault for telling ford they had a production ready motor when the EPA put the new restrictions in effect for desiels. ford bought it and now it is thier nightmare even though international created it.

I didn't know that. So how long has the 6.4 been on the drawing board?

Yeah i've been hearing about it for quite a while now too. And i'm hoping alongside you. I'd hate to hear of another bad engine...

yea, i think...and hope ford learned their lesson......time to get a top of the line, class leading, dependable desiel on the market again. i grew up a chevy guy, and would still drive chevy's if i didnt know how to work on fords, and got parts cheaper......but thats one thing, although improved over the past.........i would never buy a chevy desiel(and i would own an old twelve valve dodge before any of the newer dodges....i hate tin body's....)

So I guess the general agreement on the forum is that the 6.0 has not improved in the entire engine production run? I'm not buying it, guys! The earlier trucks had their problems, but the newer trucks seem to have a LOT less reports of problems. That is unless the trucks are chipped or tuned...

I think we would all be better served if members weren't slamming trucks with names like "sick-ohs". If you're a diesel mechanic who will make money repairing these trucks, fine. Don't gloat about it. I'll bet a number of these so called "problem trucks" could be fixed by COMPETENT technicians. Unfortunately, they seem to be a rare item at many dealerships. If you find one, give that dealer your business!

I disagree. This guy seems to really know his stuff. Plus he has his opinion, as I have mine, you have yours, and everyone else has theirs. Like I said, he knows his stuff really well and I don't care what he has to say opinionwise as long as he's he can help us all fix our rig's problems. He's not the only mechanic I know of on here and off of here that's had to deal with many a "sick-0" The guy I sold my old beadlock rims to stopped by the other day with his new 05 6.0 and he's already had it in the shop 5 times in two months. He hasn't even chipped it yet. I'm not saying it's a bad engine, there've been worse i'm sure but it's just not all that it's made out to be I think.
By the way Marc you don't even like the newer Duramax trucks? I like the cummins 24 valves, but I love the old 12 valves. It's hard to find one without a billion miles on it though. But they'll take whatever the heck you can throw at them.

there are 6.0's out there giving nobody problems, but i take offence to the comptitent tech comment. if you were to see the real causes of a lot of problems, especially the intermittent ones, along with the fact that a lot of these vehicle were to come in with one syptom that has three things causing it, you would not jump the gun and say things like that. chaffing wiring at various spots, minor voltage spices in icp readings due to bad connectors, sticking egr valves, sticking vgt selenoid, and im supposed to be able to fix them all in one visit when the customer brings it in for an intermittent check engine light and it has one code in it for the icp voltage (and the previous is an example of a real truck i worked on a few weeks ago that the customer was ticked off he had to bring it back three times in the same week....with all different causes for the check engine light). im no miracle worker.....nether are most of the techs out there
