Hot A/C
OK...just installed an AFE Stage II w/ pro guard 7 tonight. Had the battery's unhooked per instructions during installation. Finished...hooked up battery's, let warm up. Then let it idle for a minute, then let it idle with A/C on for a minute. Then went out and done the relearn (light, med., full with upshifting on each). Stopped in a parking lot and did some gear changing. All the while I notice the A/C is wierd. Only is cold when idling...as soon as I apply some RPM, goes to outside temp air. Even when up to speed. This is not normal. Could I have unplugged something accidentally? I have checked and everthing seems to be OK. Please help!

My 03 has been doing the samething. I took it to a shop where a freind of mine works. He hooked up some gauges to it and said that the high presure gauge was shakeing alot. He said that the compressor was going out. I had the the dealer replace the compressor, dryer and orifice filter. It is still doing the samething, cold at idle and hot off idle. You can shut it off and restart and it will work sometimes. I also replaced the pressure switch that is on the side of the dryer. If anyone has any ideas please let me.

I just fixed mine 2 days ago. I took mine to the dealer also and it didn't help, so I went to O'rilies bought 3 cans of refrigerant (134a) and a gauge. The gauge came with the correct psi ratings (50-55) on the low side and (250-275) on the high side. I hooked the gauge to the low side and it read 5 psi !!! And the high side read about 175 psi . So I added 134a until the pressures got where they were supposed to be and (about 3 cans) and whala , it's never blown colder. I don't know if I have a leak or not but so far so good on the psi's. Did it all for about 40$$ |

I did the cheap fix- the $20 can of 134a/leak detect/leak stop and whatever else with a gauge on the can from W*M. I think i put about half the can in watching the pressure stay mid-range good and it really has helped... guess it just needed a boost! now if I could do that for my fridge...
