06 6.0 liter Fuel Mileage
I am considering buying an 06 diesel and I wanted to know what some of you were getting for fuel mileage I have an 8.1 liter gas GMC and only get 10 miles per gallon it drives me crazy I love the power but can not stomache the gas bill any longer. I was hoping diesel would get me decent fuel milege please help me.

expect 12-20 MPG depending on driving style, cab/chassis configuration, etc....
it really varies but 14-16 is a good average number...

Dude. Deep six that 8.1 and go for a diesel. You'll love the low end torque and never buy a gasser again. I've got an 06 6.0 and I average 15 city if I stay around 2000 rpms and 18-21 highway if I keep it at around the same. A 6.0 diesel will get better fuel mileage than a 4.6 V8 F-150 extended cab. My brother and I proved it. I drove the 6.0, he was driving an F-150. For a year straight I consistently got better mileage than him. He averaged 13-14 city and 17-19 highway....He now owns a Ford 7.3 diesel...haha. Go diesel, you won't regret it.

as much as I love my truck, mileage alone is not a good reason to by one....power, huh huh huh...now THATS a reason to buy one!:-)

Yea. I have a 4.6L expedition and I get 12mpg city and if I try real hard up to 20 mpg highway. Meaning I find something big, and keep two car lengths back. The damage an oncoming wind can have on milage is harsh. With oncoming winds I can drop to 14mpg highway. With mostly city, my overhead shows 12-12.5
Mind you I have a few grand in mods.

I drive from country roads into city roads daily. Start out at 60 mph end up at 20 mph bump to bumper. I can't keep my foot out of the turbo and I NEVER get worse than 13.4. Of course it usually is not but better than that either... But brother I LOVE my TRUCK...

i work with someone who used to have a stock f350 CC SB 4x4 with the auto tranny 2004 with a 6.0
he did a lot of freeway driving empty. got 17mpg without a lot of effort.
