White smoke and bad exhaust fumes on cold start

on cold starts usually morning will do it once it awhile though out the day if it has sat 4-5hrs one it will smoke with a whiteish/grey like crazy until it it get up to operating temps and I drive a few blocks, and has exhaust fumes that will make your eyes burn. anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Probably cracked flex pipes going to the turbo, or a loose or broken turbo clamp.

I would also check the egr valve to see if it is damp when it is cold before start up, is it low on coolant.

coolant is fine

looked into it further and the is quite a bit of soot around the base of the turbo as a light dusting on the FICM 3rd and 4th pic. also seen soming looked like it was wrapped in aluminum foil with some epoxy stuck on the end bellow the driver side of the turbo first pic, as well as some sort of brass plug with like a exhaust clap on the passenger side up pipe second pic.

Im having the same problem but exhaust fumes are not that bad it will smoke for about to miles and stop but I can only see it when sitting still at a stop light. Just had a egr valve about 6 months ago and put a 4 inch straight pipe from turbo back now see this issue

got the truck in the shop now 'll let you know what I find out they pretty much said it was the Y-pipe when I droped it off last night, but they are going to dig into it today

got the word back from the shop FICM is running at 40 volts, injector 2,3,6,8 miss firing both half's of the y pipe cracked and a hole in the down pipe from rubbing on the trans. cross-member.

if u dont mind me asking im curious what they are charginging you to repair and wut parts were needed. need to decide if im going to go with new tie rod ends and joints in the front end running 41s does number on front end but if smoke issue is more critical ill do that first.

like $4,600 for 3 injectors ,FICM, both up pipes and down pipe + 16 hrs labor
