What is this part
Ok, so I am trying to finish piecing humpty dumpty back together and I have this extra part and have no idea where it came from. Does anybody out there in 6.0 land know?

are you sure it came out of the truck? what repairs where you doing to begin with? |

Looks like one of the nylon clips from a quick-disconnect hose (transmission lines or fuel lines, etc). Look down the end of any disconnected hoses and see if the lock clip is missing....

I am kind of thinking it might have came from somewhere near or in the oil filter/oil cooler area. I pretty much tore the truck apart replaced the oil cooler, added EGR delete, replaced head gaskets, so everything came off the truck. There was a small spring that I think went with this and a little black cylinder looking thing. I will take another picture of the black thing and get it posted.

part of the oil filter stand pipe? Found a real nice link to the same part with a bunch of pictures, but it was on another ford diesel site. Inboxed you with the link.

Looks like the oil filter drain back valve assembly. Altho it could be the guts to the oil filter bypass valve in the end of the stand pipe as was mentioned.

Mystery solved, thanks red bandit 98 and dannyboy950. It was the oil filter bypass valve on the top of the oil stand pipe. Looks like mine is broke so off to the parts store to by a new one.
