6.0 having problems starting
I have a 2006 6.0 ford f250 with 30000 miles on it. this week it started giving me trouble trying to crank. When the engine is cold, sometimes is cranks fine, the engine will try to run every time but it will come up to 500 rpms then go dead. After 4 or 5 tries the engine will come alive and run fine, having plenty of power. But when you shut the engine off, You start the whole process over again and you might luck up and it crank and you many not. We replaced the inline fuel pump ourselves. The tech. at our dealership does not know what the problem is so they are replacing the parts for us under warranty, but we are out of ideas......please help

I would guess you've got a sensor issue, but it is also possible the it's a FICM module issue as well. I think your dealer need some training though, they should be able to figure this out without shotgunning it with parts.
The other possibility which just occurred to me is that you may have an HPOP problem, either the tubing of the pump itself, but regardless it's not getting the oil to the injectors and thus the engine won't run. |

If it was i hpop problem it would happen every time the engine was cold(if its a minor problem or would not start at all if its a major problem). Ask the dealer what codes it is giving if any. If it is setting a code address that issue first. If it is not giving any codes I would check all power and gound to the IDM (injector drive module not sure what ford calls them) this is a major problem in medium duty trucks with this engine and may or may not set a code. If you can find any problems cut out all connectors and hard wire all of these connections. Hope this helps
