6.0 question

I got a 06 F250 6.0. I was towing a car trailer from FL to NC and back to FL On the way up had no problems than on the way back in SC (on I26) my Temp gauge jumped up to the hot side and dash said check gauges last for about 10 to 15 sec than back to normal. I stopped and looked under the hood not looked wrong the water level was a little low. Went back on the road and made the about 450 miles back to Tampa,fl doing about 70 to 75 mph with no problems. what could of that been that caused the gauge to jump up like that.
Thank you

It could have been a couple things. My first thought would be the thermostat got stuck shut for a minute.

That is how mine acted when my oil cooler was clogged up. When no water can get through the cooler or very little water the EGR will flash boil for a few seconds untill you pull over and it drops right bace to normal. You realy need to get some guages and check the delta and see what kind of shape you are in .I agree the stock guages are crap !!!
