i dont remember the exact procedure, but it's in your owners manual and does involve cycleing the key.

How to reprogram your keyless entry remote controls (97-up)

It is necessary to have ALL (maximum of four-original and/or new) of your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure

To program the transmitters yourself:
Insert a key in the ignition and turn from 3(Off) to 4(On) eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the 4(On) position.
The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.
Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)
Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn th ignition to 3(Off) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

all the doors need to be in the same position while programming though. if all the doors are locked but the drivers door is unlocked, it wont work.

as long as there are not problems with the keyless entry system, it should work. unlock all the doors with the switch. put the key in the ignition, and go all the way from off to on (run but not start) eitht times. on the eighth time, stop in run and all the doors should cycle the locks. do the cycles as fast as you can, but make sure you go all the way too off and all the way to run each time. once the locks cycle, hit the lock or unlock button on each FOB you want to program. it doesnt matter which button you hit, just hit one of them and it will then regognize the FOB.......

i called to make an appointment, but they were booked. i don't have the luxury of letting my truck go for too long as it is my only transportation. i tried the above proceedure without any luck. is there a way to tell if my truck even has a keyless entry system installed without a trip to the dealer? thanks in advance.

thanks for the info. it has power door locks so one must assume it has keyless entry. someone was telling me that my vehicle's electrical system was "electronically locked". i'll try my local dealer later this week. thanks.
