White smoke in the A.M.

This A.M. I noticed a lot of white smoke coming out of my exhaust during idle and acceleration, once the temp came up it quit. I have been getting a sweet smell every now and then. The EGT seems a bit high around 780 at 1500 RPM.. Any thoughts??

Well if you have sweet smell in your exhaust I would be checking your coolant and your oil. Check the coolant for signs of oil residue in it. Check the oil for signs of coolant. I would suspect either head gaskets or egr cooler or oil cooler has sprung an internal leak. But those are only my assumptions as I am not very well with the 6.0L.

Questions

The coolant level is low. so that means either the egr coolant tank or a head gasket. If I replace th ecoolant with Motorcraft gold do I mix it 50\50?

If it was a simple repair I would suggest you go for it yourself. But from my understanding this is something for the techs to do. Unless you just do the egr delete which is another option you have.

better to let the pros do the warrenty work

If the dealer will fix for $100.00 I have to let them.. The parts cost and anti-freeze alone would cost me more that one skin.. I just hate having to drive my car.. I like my truck...
