Bought a Scan gauge II hooked it up and saw that my EOT was going up to 235 with no tow.... ordered an oil cooler kit. One of my mechanic friends said to bring the truck by and he would check it out. My scan gauge said 232 degrees EOT when I pulled in. He put one of his scan meters on it and it said 277 degrees EOT! 190 ECT.
I had him check the rest of the temps and they were all normal just like the scan gauge said. On my way home I stopped at another truck garage and had them check it out. My Scan Gauge read 230 degrees EOT. He hooked up his scan machine and it read 205 degrees EOT..... 190 ECT.... 3 different readings from 3 different gauges so what do I believe? Who do I believe or do I have a bad sending unit?

Could be a bad sender. BTW, you are posting in the 6.7 problems forum, you have a 6.0. If you put it in the right area you will get better traffic. As for the oil cooler, you need to take almost everything out to get to it. Plan on a while if it is your first time tearing into one of these.

Thanks. I'm new to the forum and did post a question on the 6.7 forum but this should be the 6.0L Problems Forum right?

Do a cold soak test, let the engine sit over night and check your temps cold, eot and ect should be within a degree or two of ambient temp.

Thanks for the advice. I've been replacing the oil cooler all weekend and will have it back together today to do the testing. They sure don't make it easy to work on these things....
