Oil Leak After EGR Delete
I just pulled my intake manifold, and cleaned it. Then I welded the egr cooler shut and replaced the cooler hose. I replaced the oil cooler strainer and filled the space with new oil. I placed everything back as it was, added new gaskets for the intake manifold, new oil feed/drain tubes and finally added a new fuel pressure injection spring (blue upgrade). Then I went to start the truck and after the oil pressure built up, oil began to seep out from somewhere above the transmission (general area). I noticed there is no leak in the valley area around the turbo drain/feed lines nor is there a leak around the oil cooler. All known connections have been made and the truck has been out of commission for around three weeks. Any ideas about how a leak may have started or what is causing it?

The only thing I can think of that is back in that area of the engine is the HPOP cover. I can't think of any reason why it would leak, since the cover basically just covers a cavity and does not see any pressurized oil. Oil can splash around under the cover but there really shouldn't be enough pressure to blow oil out of it at a steady stream.
You might want to check that junction between the cover and the block. Another thing to consider is the IPR valve. That is screwed into the side of the HPOP and if it somehow got loose, it would leak like a sieve. Just how much oil did you pour into the area under the oil cooler? |

I put in less than two quarts of oil, less than I took out. I'm taking the truck to a shop in a couple days and I'll get back to you. The mechanic I go to seems to agree the IPR valve may be loose or related.
