Truck wont crank... Help please!

Hey everyone been awile but trying to help my pops out, well to start out truck was running fine and we went to pull a trailer with his 2003 2wd auto 6.0l and the brake lights for the truck were not working. So we went straight to both fuse boxes and started pulling fuses and not a one was blown, so after hours of trying to figure out the lights we got them working by splicing in a power wire that runs along the brake light wire that seemed to be working with the brake. So we started the truck obviously with a rigged brake light and everything was fine, so the next morning we go to leave and turn the key and nothing only normal lights on the dash but no crank. Batteries have been tested and proved to be good so we manipulated the starter with a screw driver and that makes it crank but it wont start..... can anyone give any insight on what could cause this.. oh and all fuses are still good.. thanks a million we need this truck running.

My 03 did that and I unhooked the batteries and unpluged the tcp/pcm for a day and then pluged it back in I had a tranny code that was blocking power to the starter and I was showing no power to the tcm I couldn't even get into it with the scanner. Once I let it set for a day unpluged I hooked everything back up and it has worked fine since then. Try that and see what happens.
