Noise During and After Glow Plug Cycle
Hello all, I am a fairly new Power Stroke owner and need help in deciphering a noise that happens during the glow plug cycle.
When I turn the key to "On", the systems display lights come on and the glow plugs begin and complete their cycle. I can hear the fuel pump come up to pressure and shut off, and at the same time, lasting longer than all the other noises there is the sound like a solenoid "rattling" or a relay "buzzing/rattling", it is coming from the center of the top of engine, some where near the front.
At first I thought it was the Glow Plug Relay, but after closer observation I have ruled it out.
It seems that there is a relay not contacting or maybe an electric pump of some sort coming to pressure. I read that the oil pump (HPOP) lifts the injectors, is this pump losing prime and re-priming it self at every start?
I have also read of some controller cycling the injectors before start.
Any Ideas?
