Dirty Coolant
Well I just installed my new coolant filter this evening. Prior to installing it i put a white bucket under it and drained out a couple of gallong of antifreeze from the radiator so I wouldnt make a mess. IT WAS NASTY LOOKING!!!!...kinda a brownish color. The coolant was just flushed in October when the head gaskets were replaced and on the OASIS report it shows that they used vc-9 on it. It now has 122,000 miles ...the flush was done at 98,000 miles. I am not having a problem with smoke from the exhause or from loosing anti-freeze. Should it be this color already????? I do plan on flushing it in the spring but this has me concerned. Any ideas?????

Could be some left over crap in there... More importantly, it could be oil from a blown oil cooler. Look at the degas bottle. Is there any oil in there?

Not that I can see. Im not sure of the specific gravity of anti-freeze as to whether oil would float or sink. Degas bottle looks pretty good.
