P0261 and P0264 codes
My truck had the CEL come on yesterday and ran fine all day.
I checked the codes this morning and found P0261 and P0264. I cleared the codes and tried to start. It tried to satrt a few times and finally did and ran like it was hitting on about 4 holes. After that it would not start at all. I have been reading on here that it may be a FICM issue instead of injector issue...any substance to that theory? The truck is a 2007 and only has 28K on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Test the FICM. It is pretty easy. All you need is a multimeter and a torx screwdriver.
<LINK to directions> The thing about testing the FICM is that you would want the best possible result and since it is an electrical device the batteries come into play. It is recommended that you take the batteries out of the truck and have them load tested first. If one or both test marginal or fail, replace as a set. Next, you want to put both batteries on a battery charger to get them up to a 100% charge. Doing these two steps will eliminate a battery issue as the culprit. Most auto parts stores will load test your batteries for free. |
