installed in cab fuel pressure gauge and gauge is now showing 76psi, any ideas?

I installed an auto meter electric fuel pressure gauge along with a strictly diesel extended fuel line to go from the test port to keep the sending unit away from major heat and or vibration and then set my airdog pressure to 68psi. For a week the pressure never dropped below 64psi under load or under a heavy foot. Today my low fuel light came on and my psi not only dropped to 50 but the gauge was bouncing around. After I got fuel the gauge now reads a steady 74-76 psi. How much psi is bad and any ideas why its nkw showing 8-10 psi more then when iI installed and set the fuel pressure? We did bleed the air out of lines after we installed and made sure all was working.
