05 starting problems?
I have read several threads where numerous people have done a egr delete and replaced their oil cooler and then had problems getting the truck to start after that. Would this be a common problem? Is this a fuel pressure problem or an oil pressure problem. Is there anything i can do to possibly avoid this. Someone mentioned something about pourng a quart of oil somewhere. i am getting ready to do both and would appreciate any advised that would assist in avoiding any unnecessary down time.

After you remove your oil cooler and the plastic screen, make the inside of the engine surgically clean. This means no lint, no crud, no fuzz nothing in there. If you have anything in the sump for the HPOP it’s a one way trip to the IPR ( Bad news )
Next you fill the surgically clean sump with almost a full Qt of oil. This is also a great time to replace the STC fitting as it WILL fail at some point, its just your choice were and when to replace it. So then you get it all put together, next it will require several sessions of cranking before the HP oil system gets going and make enough pressure to fire the injectors. Keep an extra strong battery charger handy. After it gets running let it run on high idle for about 20 min before you drive it. Then take it out and run the heck out of it to get all the air out of the HP oil system. Guys do this repair all the time and then freak out because their truck runs like crap for a ¼ tank of gas until all of the air is purged out. |
