25 psi-low boost?

i had posted this over on another forum to get some ideas on what could be wrong and i want to see what yall think as well since we have so many great helpers over here
here it is in a nut shell(couple of posts together)

i was wondering why my boost is low..reading all the other threads people are seeing 30-35psi easily..im reading it from the edge juice monitor on level 5...could it be a intercooler boot leak? or dirty air filter?

i havnt seen any higher boost since i bought my truck...thinkin of doin the turbo clean gimmik and see if it helps....any ideas
............................

i set the edge at- max egt's1500
max boost 30psi
defuel shifts 50% and flooring it at 40mph my boost hit 24 psi 4 out of 4 times and highest egt's i seen was a lil over 1200..and that was on level 4..so it seems like something is not giving me full boost but im not sure what..any ideas on what to look at..im pretty mechanically inclined and have a good set of tools if i had to look into it more..im still going to do the turbo clean procedure as soon as i get the chance

anyone have any ideas what could be keepin my boost below 25??
thanks
dustin

We have a 04 6.0 at work and all I can ever get out of it is 25psi. but that is stock with no exhaust mods. now on my 06 with aero turbine and no cat with a hypertech i can hit about 31psi. So for the year and turbo by wat i see it seems ok

Dustin,
I think you are all over this one already; It's either on the sucking side (filter) or the blowing side (intercooler) or the turbo itself. I'm consistently seeing above 30 psi at WOT.

Oh, I just thought and it could be your line to your Edge. Did you tap the intake or tee into the MAP line? You might be leaking at either of those connections.

30 PSI out of an early build 6.0 is awsome...factory they wont go over 24-26 max without a problem. im not sure you have a problem at all man......

Also, if you tapped in with a wire, and not running a tube. All you are seeing is what the truck is seeing. You may not be getting a real good reading. That is why I like regular gauges instead of the monitors.

This being correct, we need to know if the tuner he is using is ultimately controlling boost levels. A stock calibration will limit boost by adjusting the VGT and if the turbo is stuck/sticking, the PCM will begin opening the EGR valve at 26 PSI to try to slow the turbo down. I agree that 24 PSI is good but I question if he should be seeing more while using a tuner? I think that is what he is concerned with.

Before condemning anything, it might be wise to put a manual test gauge on the truck and verify what the boost actually is at the manifold, because that is where it counts. I recommend tapping in at the MAP line. This will show what your boost actually is, whether you have a problem building boost and if your aftermarket gauge/tuner is incorrectly reading boost... for whatever reason.

This is kinda off the 6.0 boost topic, but what boost should you be getting in a stock 7.3? Or if you have programmed for say 50-75 HP?
Thanks..........
