I am trying to determine if my starter is going bad in my truck what is the procedure for testing a starter still in the truck and what should the voltage range be
The A/C compressors are know for dragging when starting on the 6.0. The clutch gets out of adjustment. You might check and see if the clutch is engaged and turning when cranking the truck. You can shim the clutch on the compressor.
To be a little more specific about it when you first crank it the first few revolutions you can tell its draggin but it seems to pick up right before it cranks and it only seems to do it when its been sitting for a while
I'd still check the compressor. More common than the starter. I don't know what kind of voltage you have to test for at the starter. Maybe a tech. will chime in and help out.
I checked the compressor and it was not spinning on startup would like to know about the starter if anybody has any other ideas chime in please
