I have the same truck, same year, same problem. Its never been able to blow a lot of heat in the winter. I can start it in the morning and let it idle for 10 mins and it heats just enough to start defrosting my windshield....but on my half hour drive to work the heat is still cranked and its still cold. I put a massive piece of cardboard to block my rad and it doesnt seem to help.

Mine's an XLT, my buddy has the lariat which apparently has an added electric heater in the dash to speed things up and keep the drivers warm.

FINALLY GOT MY HEAT BACK. I REPLACED MY HEATER CONTROL VALVE,& THERMOSTAT. DIDN'T THINK I COULD BE THE HEATER CORE, BECUZ BOTH HOSES WERE HOT, GOIN IN & OUT. I TORE OUT MY GLOVE BOX, CHECKED THE TEMP BLEND DOOR, AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. FELT OF THE HEATER CORE, AND THE TOP WAS HOT, BUT HTE BOTTOM WAS JUST COLD METAL. SO I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY BUDDIES LOCAL RADIATOR SHOP, AND HE FLUSHED THE HEATER CORE, AND NOW THE HEAT GETS HOT. HE SAID THAT HE FLUSHED OUT ABOUT 7 FORDS THE SAME WEEK FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. HOPE THIS HELPS KEEP YA'LL WARM.

LATER, JASON
