EGR Delete

What is an EGR delete and does it help in any way... a guy i work with had his tac welded and got like 18-22 mpg light and 14-17 running 75 with a 26' .250 gauge alum. boat that i got 10-11 pulling.... But then his HPOP went out and the tech said it had something to do with that

This is an egr delete. Elite Diesel 6.0L External Engine Parts

It is a warranty VOID item, so If your concerned about your warranty forget it. Is his truck an 05? My husbands 05 blew the hpop out at 34000 miles.

I have a 05 F350 and my HPOP went out at about 32K. Now have coolant spewing out the reservoir tank and steam from exhaust. I read this EGR delete post and try to make a decision to use or not. 92K right now, so i dont want to void the warranty but it has gotten consistantly worse. Will update.

what relevance does the HPOP have to the EGR cooler? As well, what can your local Motor Vehicle Divisions department do to find out that you have bypassed the EGR? is there a way they can tell that it is bypassed by hooking up the smog machine?
thanks

I don't think the two are related, the HPOP has nothing at all to do with exhaust. The injector o rings go bad sometimes which will let oil bypass into the cyl and you will get blue smoke.

If you just do the egr delete and have a tuner that can clear th CEL then you good. They don't do the tailpipe test here.

I'm from Phoenix. I remember the test stations being state owned & run. They would know of your EGR delete when they looked under hood for the emissions devises. As far as I know, this is the only way thay would be able to tell. Here in Ca., smog stations are independent of state agencies, therefore, I've had less scrutiny on other vehicles,(my truck doesn't get smogged).
