Where is the Y pipe?
I posted a question earlier about the exhaust smell. Someone told me it was the Y pipe cracked so my question is where is the Y pipe and could i replace it myself? Any pictures would help! Thanks!

The Y pipe connects to the back of the turbo. It goes from each exhaust manifold up to the turbo. There are flexible bellows towards the top of each leg of the Y near the turbo that are prone to cracking. If you have removed the turbo recently, it could be that it is not seated correctly.

You can replace it yourself. Just move the coolant reservoir to the side, loosen the nut on the v-band clamp where the y pipe connects to the turbo and remove it. If you still have an egr cooler, you have two options. 1-disconnect the y-pipe from the up pipe closer to the turbo and the driver's side exhaust manifold bolts that connect it to the y-pipe. OR 2-disconnect the egr cooler v-band clamp at the up pipe and then remove the bolts from both exhaust manifolds where it attaches to the y-pipe (those you will have to get to from underneath the truck).

So you can change the Y-Pipe without removing the turbo?
