6.0 Exhaust Smell

On my 2004 F350 6.0, there is a terrible exhaust smell in the cab when you turn the heater on. When you start the truck with the hood up you see a little exhaust come up on the left side of the engine. What do you think is happening?

I have the same issue on my truck right now and we figured out my y pipe is leaking. May want to take a look at it.

Well it looks like the pipe I'm going to use runs $350 and I'm going to attemt the install in the driveway. Below is a link to a place to buy them online, otherwise a ford dealer is the only other place who carries them that I know of.

My truck did the same thing. Exhaust smell when idling and heater on. The problem was the turbo outlet boot. $74 later problem solved. I asked the service guy if this is a common problem, he said very common.
