is there a way to test this. any help would be great

hi there guys i have been on here alot lately. Is there a way to test your head gasket. The raeson why i ask is i think its my water pump that is shot not the head gasket. when i open up the cap for the coolant i dont hear any air or pessure in there and when the truck is idleing or even at 1200 rpm i dont see the fluid moving at all. my tempeture will go from 170 to 196 and then will come out of the rad cap a bit. i changed my oil no anti-freeze and did a flush on my anti-freeze and there was no oil. ford told me 6000 to do the head gasket and im hoping theres a way to test if thats where my issue is. at an idle or 1200 rpm i blow heat and the truck seems normal no white smoke or any thing. but when i start to drive it will start to rise to around 192 to 196 then drop back down to 180. could this be a water pump is there a way to test this also

Your temp isnt high at all now that I have read the second thread you posted. Maybe replace the cap and see how it does? I have read where caps are bad before.
