My new "used" 6.0 starting some problems....

Well i bought my 03 SD 2wd Super Cab short bed about 2 months ago. Great lookin truck, white, and grey inside. Test drove it.... Sounded sweet, no lag, good brakes, no oily spots, he has some records of the work done.

recall 06e17, 59b01, Trans flush.

Trans flush,

Coolant sys flush (Motorcraft Prem. Gold) , Changed Diff fluid.

ICP SENSOR AND CONNECTER,
note from mech, "wire harness damaged by soaking oil"

I got a stack of oil change paper work that has been done atleast 2 times a year, if not 4.

When i bought it, it had 107000. He wanted 14k well i offered him 10,500. and he took it.

Now theres the back ground. Heres the problem.
drove it 25 mins or so, and stopped noticed a slight "miss" "rough idle" and it wasnt really consistent.

driving in town for a bit, pull to a red light and it starts "missing" i shift it to N and it stops, shift to P and it stops and comes back.

long haul and back to town, started again. so i parked it and let it idle some. It "missed" for about 2 mins and went away?????

Remind you that this is really Intermittent, and its not a bad or harsh idle. Just makes me worry some. Matter fact i drove it about 3 hrs today and never missed a beat, great spooling, and hauling azz.

A few more details, No muff or kitty. I can hear everything. Oil change is due in about 400 miles, and thinking about doing both fuel filters.

If someone could point me in the right direction for a Oasis report.

I know its long, but its all the details.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Is this really a miss in the idle, or are we talking about a slight surge in the idle. This will also occur while driving under light throttle conditions (like just enough throttle to keep the truck moving at hwy speed on flat ground). A miss will sound like a lope program, where a surge will be slight, and short changes in the engine RPM.

The surge can be attributed to a couple things, bad or blocked EBP (exhaust back pressure) sensor, or possibly a sticky, or stopped up EGR valve, and quite possibly both at the same time. Do you have a sluggish take off at all associated with black smoke?

A miss would be a bad injector connection, (The first one to check is the front drivers side, prone to breaking) or bad injector. (If this is the case the engine would vibrate the truck like a bad off balance wheel)

It has yet to occur will driving, only when idle in Drive or in Park at idle. It happened today all day, made a trip to OKC which is about 3hr or less, and only when at idle. i tried just barely giving it throttle like you said and it went away. i never noticed a change in RPMs but i wasnt paying attention with traffic and 16ft trailer in down town OKC.
