Blown Internal oil Cooler whats next?
ok so a brief history of this truck, three days after i bought it i blew an injector, no big deal. so after i got it out of the shop almost every time i would tow it would downshift the second i started up an overpass or hill. finally it quit shifting one day headed home without a load. and the tow/haul started flashing.
I limped it to the house since it was only about a mile, killed it restarted it and i had no problems, took it to the dealer they say some kind of overdrive shift solenoid. and now just the other day i get to work start doing some stuff and happen to look over at my truck and there's a puddle of oil under it that is bubbling out of the coolant tank. Well its at the dealership they are picking up the tab for the repair since ive had nothing but trouble out of the truck but what should i look for next??? will this oil cooler going out cause something else to go out later? i dont know much about them but maybe more injectors? EGR cooler? I was going to do a bunch of mods here pretty soon but now im opting for an extended warranty instead. |

Since you are going for an extended warranty, change the egr cooler and add a coolant filter. That should get you through your extended warranty. If your extended warranty isn't too strict, and if you are in a state that doesn't test emissions, delete the egr cooler. Switch to ELC coolant.

well the warranty is from ford so i dont know know what i could get away with. im hoping that since they are picking up the bill that it screwed the egr cooler too and they go ahead and replace it. and whats ELC coolant?
