Cruise control kicks out?

My cruise control worked awesome when i bought the truck. It started doing this thing when you are driving down the road the motor reves up and it kickes out then my speedo goes from one side the other then back and you hit resume and its good again. It used to only do it once and awhile not it doing it a lot and its getting worse. Has any heard of this or had problems with this?

Try replacing the VSS on the rear axle.
