Question about the lights

So all the lights in my truck slightly dim/get bright/dim/get bright etc....from the headlights to the license plate light and every one in between. Could this be just a bad battery, or an alternator problem?

I think I can hear the engine surging a little as well...and the air conditioner

alternator. whats your voltmeter say? sounds like your voltage regulator is shot on your alternator.

yup....that was it. Put in a new alternator and the problem went away.
