Turbo surging?

My truck is running like ****. Turbo is surging or at least it sounds like it is. It boosts higher than it normally does then whines kinda funny and I don't have the usual power when it does this. I have to let off the throttle for a second to regain power then it does it again. Every now and then after getting on it a little bit, it "farts". Damn things is pissing me off I can't afford to have my wood truck down. Would should I do? Could it be the EGR valve sticking? I pulled it and cleaned it so I tend to think thats not it. Truck is throwing a engine back pressure sensor circuit malfunction code as well.

I would diagnose the EBP sensor problem first. The PCM looks at the EBP and uses the feedback signal to determine VGT position. Theres a good chance that will fix your problem.

take that EGP sensors out and start it. Rev the engine a little and watch the carbon fly! look in the end of the EGP, if its all carboned up also, replaced it. Theres no way to fix them i've tried lots of different ways.
