Egr ?

Is there a way to tell if a truck has the egr delete with out taking it apart?

On the pass side of the motor, on top, under intake manifold. I marked the egr cooler with a yellow marker, the '03-early '04's have a round erg cooler, and the late '04-'07's have a square design. The stock egr cooler will be around 2" OD, now look right above the yellow marker you will see a blue hose. This hose connects the erg cooler to the oil cooler coolant exit port. The blue hose has about a 1" OD. If you have a egr delete you will NOT have this 2" egr cooler, you will have a 1" tube that goes to the blue hose and makes a U-turn to the front of the intake.

Ok I looked at again today. But I didn't see your post till now. It has the square egr cooler. That about all I did see. Is the square better? Thanks for the help

I don't know if one's better than the other. Either design is prone to fail. The best thing you can do at this point is get gauges or a monitor to watch the ECT and EOT, making sure the delta between the two doesn't go above 15* while under normal driving.

like said above both are prone to fail but i think i have read before that the round one is a little better than that square one. but it is possible that the cooler is blocked off. and probably only way your gonna find that out for sure is take it apart or ask previous owner. but when most people do anything with the cooler they get rid of it. but there is a chance that it could be just blocked off just throwing it out there
