trouble pulling the egr

hey guys
i was having trouble taking the egr out to clean it a while ago,today i tried again still could not pull and twist it out ,so i took some wire twisted the egr so the ears were away from the threaded part and looped the wire in each ear so it made a handle like on a bucket and took a pry bar under the wire found a solid place to pry up on and poped rigt out, i know this is simple advise but this way you wont break the egr by using pliers or something. hope this will help someone.
p.s it was pretty dirty

not bad just read alot about cleaning the egr and figured mine could use it ,the truck runs better with it unpluged but not worth it to me if any warranty problems came up. i'm hopeing to put an exhaust system on soon still not sure about a programmer but i looked at some #'s on the hypertech the other day looks like safe power and low egt's but i have not heard much about them:
