Intercooler boots Help!!

Hello I have had a super annoying hiss coming from what sounds the turbo to intercooler boot there is a TON of soot around it took off the old boot and replaced both of the boots on the intercooler with ford oem brand the hiss is still there and seems somewhat worse, it does it as soon as truck starts and does not quit unless shutdown you can hear it while driving aswell, there is also a whoom noise like when you blow over the top of a bottle when boost builds or I let off the throttle can someone please help me here!

bump i have the same issue and and had some black smoke this morning when cold...could this be the intercooler boots???

Might be the intercooler itself leaking. Check around the sides of the intercooler where the side tanks crimp to the cooler. Also the downtubes may have a leak behind the turbo. Do you smell exhaust fumes inside the cab?

Mine did the same thing. Ended up being the y-pipe coming off the turbo.
