I wouldn't......I regret buying my 2004 6.0 every single day. So far this year I have put $2200 in just parts in the truck. And it has just developed an oil leak so bad I won't even drive it. So in 4 months I am $2200+ in just parts. Not worth the hassle. I could have bought a more expensive truck and my payment would have been the same if you include the amount of money I spend in repairs on this one.

I switched from an 05 Duramax to my 04 6.0 and would do it again tomorrow, mine has 160k on it and runs great, had to ball joints though but big deal! pvt9471, what has been $2200? Please elaborate, if its wear items we all have those if it's abuse from a previous owner that cant isnt anyones fault either. Hope you get it handled.

Sometimes the motor might last 500k miles. Others like the one I had last like 87k.

The 6.0l will last many thousands of miles with proper maintenance (change of oil basically).. The other components that are used in addition, may not last that long unfortunately. (Example: EGR valve, EGR cooler, FICM, Turbo, Injectors, Glow plugs etc...)

My 6.0l has run 80,000 problem free miles. The last 20,000m have been REALLY hard on it but I have changed the oil every 4,000. We pulled the heads to install better headgaskets and ARP studs and found I still had the cross hatch in the cylinders and no cracks in the pistons (not that there should be).. So if after 80,000 and almost no wear internal, yes, the 6.0l will last a long time IMHO.
