Dealer told me ford quit using the external trans filter
I called Robinson brothers Ford to get an external trans filter and the service guy told me that Ford sent out a bulletin to remove the external filter and screw the cap back on. He said that the external filter was causing problems and Ford recommends not using an external trans filter now. I Took it out and threw it away. Anyone else heard of this ? Should I put a new one back in ?

Never heard of such for an '07 or older Torqueshift ... I just replaced mine last weekend & the old one was really dirty.
Might wanna double check that at another Ford dealer and pick up the external filter while your there. |

It's a bypass filter so even if it gets clogged, it will still flow fluid to the rest of the transmission. It's true that in the 5R110's in the 6.4L's they no longer have the bypass, but they have modified the pan filter to work better. I would suggest getting another bypass filter and putting it in.

Sorry, you are correct. Job 1 trucks still had them but they were removed in the Job 2 and later trucks, IIRC.
