New - Need help/advice

I have a '04 6.0 and just went over 70,000 miles. Today I noticed white smoke coming out of my tailpipe as I was stopped at a light. It let up and I went home. Hours later I was driving and noticed a LOT of white smoke coming out as I accellerated. It sounds right and drives right but lots of smoke coming out. Any idea? I'm no mechanic but I change oil and fuel filters regularly. Fuel filter is overdue to be changed.
Also I noticed last month while towing a fifth wheel, it would start jerking or sputtering at about 65 MPH and stop if I slowed down or accellerated. Don't know if this is related.

the slowing and jerking may be an egr that needs to be cleaned, as for the smoke someone else needs to chime in.

Im not an expert but on a gas engine white smoke is usually caused by water in the cylinder which can be from a cracked block or blown head gasket. Is it cold there? Cause my diesel shoots white smoke when its cold but goes away after it warms up. White smoke while driving can be serious problem!

It's not cold. I'm in Southern Cali. THe truck seems to run the same, Just smoking alot when I accellerate. I'm taking it in to Ford tomorrow for a emissions recall so maybe they can tell me.

EGR cooler has failed...id put money on it!!! its coolant smoke...not fuel smoke....

GOt a call from the dealership. The bad news is it's blown head gaskets. The only good news is it's covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. I was told the oilcooler may not have been working right and caused it. Hope they clear it up.
