link error?

I got in my truck today from leaving Lowes and the check engine light came on when I crunk the truck up. I drove home about 20 miles and everything was running fine. Stopped by Autozone to get them to pull the code and all the guy said was it showed link error, no codes. he said to check my fuses and see if one had blown that could cause the link error to show. Just finished checking every fuse I could find and nothing is blown. I unhooked the batteries to let the system reset and see if it was a valid error or something.
Anyway, how long should I leave them unhooked to make sure it's reset?

i don't think unhooking your batteries is a good idea at all. Your PCM holds diagnostic codes it it fom the self test your truck does at each start-up. if you disconnect the batteries you also clear the memory of the PCM which holds historical diagnostic codes. Those code readers used at auto parts houses are junk and sould not be trusted. Find someone that has a proper scanner or for $100 bucks take it to Ford and let them put it on a scanner and havethe ability to read live data.

Sorry I didn't come back sooner, but I hooked the batteries back up after about 30 min. and the light quit and it's been running like a champ since.
