05 F350 High Pressure Oil Pump
Hi guys I'm new to this site and the whole diesel scene. I'm looking to by my self a diesel F350. I found one that I like, It's a one owner 05 SRW F350 4x4 with 200k on it. I got all the dealer maintenance records on it, it had oil changes ever 2 months. At about 74k The truck was having hard starting problems, then shut off on the owner while driving down the highway pulling a trailer, truck would not re-start. It was found that the High Pressure Oil Pump had failed. It was replaced by the dealership. Dealer noted that "found pump cover and timing cover had groves in them and pump gears were chipped" Is this a good or bad? I figure, he put another 126k on it after all this so I must not of caused any engine damage?

It would have to be one heck of a deal with that many miles. The Oasis wont show any problems after 100k unless it was taken to the dealer for repair and who does that when there is no warrenty
. In any case you would be going through alot of wear items soon like injectors, turbos, ficm, sensors, hpop again and so on. These are just things that are going to wear out with use regardless if it has been a good truck so just keep that in mind and if you dont do your own work it can get pretty expensive. As far as i know the cover being marked is not an issuue and is common when the pump goes out. But i guess for the right price go for it.
