04 6.0 help

Hey all, I posted this in the general discussion but maybe it should be here... got an issue with a buddy's 04 SD 6.0. Truck has edge platinum, 6" exhaust and k/n cold air filter. Issues are hard cold start, if try to drive truck below engine temp of 150* truck looses all power for several seconds. If wait till over 150* truck intermittently looses all power (like it has shut off) and both water and fuel lights come one. Fuel filter has been changed and running additive for gelling. Anyone got any ideas...thanks

you changed both fuel filters right?

as for the cold start issue, do you have the latest flash from ford?

did you scan the truck for any codes? (assuming the edge can do this). The 04 had the wire harness problems that would give intermittant problems. intermittant can be any of a hundred differant wire connections. with it running try to movee the harnesses around and seee if you can get it to act up. Most of the problems are in the driver rear under the ficm unit. The cold starts may need a reflash or you have a bad ficm going out. have you tested it yet?

im no help on this but he has a 6in exhaust? thats freakin ridiculous

ha ya I questioned the 6" exhaust myself...I will be heading down that way tmrw so I will check on the filters and the latest flash. I know nothing about the edge programmer as I drive a stock 03 7.3 SD and havent had the pleasure messing with a programmer. I will also check out the wiring harness to see if I can get it to stall while at an idle. thanks for the input I will keep you posted.
