Best oil to use in my 6.0

I live in South Louisiana where the summers get hot and Winter is not much to talk about. What is the best brand/weight of oil to use in my 6.0? The dealership changed my oil last time and I would guess that they used Motorcraft. Thanks

Best oil to use IMHO is a quality synthetic, 5w-40. Brands can be debated, but the benefits of syn. oil in a 6.0 cannot. Some of the most popular brands are Valvoline Extreme blue, Mobil 1, rotella syn, schaeffers, etc, etc...

Plus a few other odds and ends...

First and most important thing to look for when choosing a motor oil for the 6.0l is making sure it has the Cl-4+ rating as per the owners manual. I personal use Amsoil 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Motor oil. I have used Amsoil know for 8 years in 6 trucks and cars and have had really good luck with their products. I have had valve covers off of trucks with over 100,000 miles on them to look brand new. I just recently purchased a 2006 F350 DRW with 32,000 miles and I changed the motor oil, transmission, transfer and front and rear gear lube with Amsoil. To me the engine and transmission same to run smoothier. I also noticed a 1.5 MPG increase when towing my 11,300lb fifth wheel to NC this week. I was only getting 10.5 MPG prior to changing all the oils. Hope this helps....

The 6.0L is know to shear oil, so when doing your oil research look at that very closely.

Here is a good place to learn a lot about oil.

I think I would stay with what Ford sayes ! From what ive read the 6.0s were alittle picky when comes to motor oil ! But it also depends on climate ,and other things of course! Some people will argue about this subject to!
