Just talked to a Ford Diesel Master Tech with 20 yrs. exp on diesels and he said it is a turbo CHRA problem. Basically the seals on the turbo shaft are allowing oil to get by and that is what is causing the smoke. I tried to steer him away from his diagnosis, but he held his guns and said he had no doubt that it is a turbo issue. Guess I will just keep taking it back to the *&%^%&*ship until they get it fixed!

No, I didn't say that. I said that it appears my problem is oil getting by the o-rings in the turbo. I don't think changing my fuel filters had anything to do with this. In fact, I don't know what causes this, but I don't think it is fuel filters. I just described my problem to him and he told me that when you are seeing blue smoke like I am, 99% of the time it is coming from the turbo. Your problem may be different from mine. Either way, I don't think changing the fuel filters had any thing to do with it. I am just hung up on how to convince the dealership to check this. I know now that I was just put off the other day. Sure, my EGR valve was prolly clogged up, but a bad EGR valve does not cause blue smoke, I know that now, so I am learning both about the truck and about dealerships. They see my truck is under warranty so they slap a new EGR valve on that takes about five minutes and they get paid by Ford for doing the work and tell me it should get better in a few days, knowing the whole time its not. At least I hope they didn't think that was going to fix the blue smokle problem. Anyway, they will get a chance to fix it again next week as I will be taking it back and maybe I can convince them to check the turbo!

I just switched to Valvoline 5w-40 synthetic...only drove it home so not sure what I think of it yet. My truck sure does have a slight haze to it while idling but I'll give it some time. I was running 15w-40 FMC dino oil so I'm thinking I should change the filter after 500-1000 miles incase anything was worked loose. I ordered some of Hot Shot's Secret so I will have to figure out when to put that in.

I have the 7.3 and I have the exact problem. As soon as the truck idles for more than 20 seconds small clouds of blue form. I would like to fix this also, so any info would be appreiciated.
